After a few nights of careful consideration.

The road less traveled seems to be the road that is going to be traveled on.

One of my closest friends who has come up from Virginia to stay the weekend had given me the motivational speech I needed. Finally I know to trust in what your mind and heart wants you to do. The friends that you have that love you will support you and help you. Torn between what insight your parents and other family members give you for your own benefit; the divide between practicality and dreams are a tough one. The truth being that those who truly care for you, support you regardless of the road you take. Indecision will only sprawl you to become further more indecisive. I learned you become more subject to advice of others and become subject to judgement in whether or not you take that advice. The result is a catch 22. If you take the advice and it does not pan out. You feel either betrayed or convinced that they gave the wrong advice leading you astray. If you take their advice you can either end up happy or dissatisfied because you still are not accomplishing what your dream is. The only one real thing you can do is listen to yourself despite all advice given. Once you accept the consequences of what you are about to do. You are ready. Likewise to look death in the eye and accept it. Embrace your fate within your leap of faith and make the best of it.

And so I begin....

Film/TV/production.....no more settling to become a  teacher.

The road which is barely a beaten path, a barren sea with no signs of land, the dessert with no water in sight.

I may not be adequately prepared skillfully or financially. But mentally I am. I have looked death in the eye and accepted my fate.

The re-admittance into the battle arena of the entertainment job market. No matter how far I run, where I go, it calls out to me.

Its time to embrace it.

And you all will be updated, every step of the way.

Subway nonsense part 2

Here is a peak of what >
entertainment looks like on a Manhattan subway train.

I also saw this lady waiting for the subway train on the platform in a really nice antique chair. She was professionally dressed black woman. I should've took a photo. I walked by her because it was just another random sight in the city. But it was so intriguing I had to ask her. "Is that your chair?" "It is." she replied. I said, "I said oh ok, I just thought it was such a weird sight to see you sitting there in that chair. I guess it would be pretty weird if it wasn't yours?" "yeah it would i guess, im bringing it uptown" "jeeze your lugging it all the way up there?" "Yeah but i got the taxi man to get me here" "oh well thats good" "ok good luck!" i replied as the train started to pull in. It was such a crowded train there was no hope for her to get on this train. She would just have to wait for the next one.

Subway Train Nonsense

Since my commute to this really shitty school to learn how to teach summer school kids who do not want to be there now has me waking up at 5AM. I am seeing more weird things more than ever, when ever I try to pay attention and not dead tired from my 5 hours of sleep of course.

On the way to my destination, I over heard this black man on the phone with what sounded to be his current lover. He appeared to be in his late 20's early 30's, dressed in a snapback t-shirt, Nike custom, backpack, white headphones, and skinny camo jeans. The optimism and criticism  he displayed unbeknownst to me proved how wise he truly was. Since I sat next to him on the train I turned on my voice recorder while I had my earphones plugged in. The back story I wasn't able to record was how this girl he knew made some poor decisions. She followed this man who was incarcerated and now wants to live on her own and make something new out of herself. Continuing with that, in the clip he speaks to his loved one about applying to jobs, buying and owning an apartment and over all, not to give up.

He went on about how he met her in The Bronx and saw her when he went to take a piss by a tree before they struck up a conversation which is when I assumed their love bloomed the night they met. He said, when I knew you then you wanted to work at that place near the house. You were so determined to do it. And you did it. That shows that you can do what you put your mind to. (She seemed to have second thoughts about a certain job pursuit) But you cant quit. You can never quit. You wanted to move out of The Bronx and moved to Brooklyn. You did it. You can do this too. But you can't ever give up. There is nothing to lose by keep trying and being persistent.

You can listen to it >>>>Here

Will The South Rise Again?

A few days ago, one of my friends on facebook posted an article about TV land pulling The Dukes of Hazard because of the confederate flag controversy. She retorted by saying, soon they'll take off Hogan's Heroes because it has the Nazi flag in the show.

Disoriented from my nap and failing to recognize what year it was. I read this post and got agitated about my beloved show Hogan's Heroes. All of this pent feelings about the controversy had to get off my chest. So I began to type it out in a lengthy facebook argument. Needless to say, the person who was debating me did not respond back.

Ill post it here if ya'll are interested. Please mind the typo's I typed it up in 15 minutes and was in a fit. I didn't proof read it and will post it now as is.

Lets dive into a history lesson. Since it's my expertise. And 3 ways philosophically you can think about all this and then i'm out.

 1.
Why this whole "flag issue" is a problem more so than ever before. Let's leave out the argument, "It's always been a big issue!"  It's because of the shooting and if you looked into it more, the kid had clear mental issues and the parents are partially to a majority to blame. Also the media for making a spectacle. And lastly as a convenient  item to blame so we can quickly point our fingers and blame something hoping something will change "The quick fix". After all, that’s what we Americans are so good at, look at pharmaceuticals. Taking it down will not stop racism nor will stricter gun laws stop crime.  In fact it have the opposite effect. Its comparable, not apples, oranges.

2.
Historically. It was never about race to begin with. Lincoln didn't care about the slaves, only about preserving the Union. I can quote it but do your own dirty work. The Slave debate was a byproduct of the war yes. Was the war racial? Primarily, no. Did it become? Over the course of the war it did. We can get into the nitty gritty of "northern aggression" "carpet baggers" "states rights" and say these terms of fabricated from the south to make the north look bad (even though not true) we heard this all before. I won't get into that. Facts only. Instead let's look at this socioeconomically.
The south had slaves. They loved it. They were doing well with them. They were profitable. They were thriving. Was slavery right? By all means no. But it was how things were done then. Different time.  A majority of the south weren't wealthy slave owners. They were the same everyday workers like today.  Small business owners. But where does the money come from to support a locally owned business in your community. From those who have money and contribute to society right? Now lets say that’s you. Have a business and you're profitable. Now the North, Lincoln in particular wants to impose high tariffs on you for trade and not allow free trade between neighboring states. You're living the good life right? Ok let's take it away from you so now you can't support your family. Your sons, your daughters. In a wider scope, who can support the business down the street now that your business is going out of business? You have people that are employed too, not just slaves. Now they lose a job. So on so forth. A society crumbles. People become impoverished. If you have "feelings" you can see how these people then would hurt bad. There should've been an ending of slavery, with a transitioning plan. But there wasn’t and things got heated and war broke out. It's how things were.  And instead, the South was burnt to the ground by a drunk general.  Making matters worse, reconstruction didn’t go over well either.

3.
Who cares then! If you're intelligent to understand these 2 concepts put together;  seeing the Confederate flag should not offend you. It's a difficult debate purposed as, can one change the symbolism of a flag? I for one believe it can. As long as you understand the history behind it and respect that, you can represent it in a way to make it great again. It's your 1st amendment right to try. It gives people who live there a certain sense of distinction and pride. It represents a slower way of doing things, a warmer way of life, a shirt off your back, honest living gentleman from the south. As opposed to what us northerners are proud of. Being from NYC and other states, some of these qualities we represent are,  loud, quick on our feet, resilient and also proud. There is no reason we can appreciate the difference each other has and appreciate the history of what happened. The south lost its over. Let them be proud they took a stand for their states' rights and choosing to fight for their lifestyle. Being a rebel.  So what if they want to fly it and have it represent what they know it means to them. Even if you don’t agree with that, it shouldn’t offend you. I've traveled throughout the south and met many strangers of different races. By and large they weren't racist and some of the warmest people I've met. Blacks and whites who unite under that flag celebrating their individuality in the Union and or United States. Complete strangers who would feed me if I needed a meal. Maybe consider that is what they think the Confederate flag means to them.

Podcast Radio Show Episode 1 is a Go.

Greetings everyone. As soon as I can figure out how to get this page customized I will. There are a lot of cogs in this big clock we call a youtube/radio show business venture. And a clock is a well oiled machine, some clocks have jewel movements.( The Incredibles) Anyway its takes almost all day to edit and make videos and radio shows. Especially since I'm brand spanking new at this stuff.

You can check it out at Soundcloud

or Podomatic

I hope you enjoy.

This episode is poorly made. I can't speak as clearly I will someday, my microphone is poor thanks to this computer in Florida that does not support my professional mic, and well what I have to talk about so far is not that interesting as I it sounded on paper. But come along and I promise it will improve.

I hope to appeal to those Gen Y and Gen X teens, teen adults and adults. Some who could use some conventional wisdom and skills like cooking and some street philosophical thinking about the state of our current society and how we can hope to be ahead of the curve.

Stay tuned for more show and please check out my friend Luigi Catchatore as he teaches you how to cook on a budget.
